Challenge

  • Metals4U was running their old site on the same domain, but it was developed by using some old technologies.
  • The ecommerce store is a one stop destination for all metal products that helped contractors and tradesperson fulfil their needs.
  • But with the rapid growth in the customer base and market presence, the company needed to expand their capabilities and offer a better customer experience in line with the vision of the company.
  • The functionalities of the existing ecommerce platform no longer met the evolved requirements of their business and it soon became important to address specific pain points from the customer perspective, which included product searchability, lack of mobile experience.
  • The operations team also required improved efficiencies through greater integration, including cataloguing, warehousing, shipping for the company’s accelerating growth.
  • The company was looking for an experienced ecommerce development company that could help them build a rich e-store with all the features and functionalities.

  • After closely analyzing and understanding the requirements of the client, our team started rounds of discussions and decided to use the latest version of Magento 2 Enterprise Edition to develop the website
  • Magento EE was in many ways an ideal platform for Metals4U as it had all the major functionalities that could be further enhanced to attain their specific business goals.
  • Some key elements on which the team focused included the scope, design, interface, product placement and user experience.
  • Magento Cloud hosting is used, which allows more than 100 concurrent users to access the site.
  • We have developed the custom cut module, which allows the buyers to cut the metals as per their specific needs and get the items delivered.
  • For better website performance, we integrated some of their internal modules like ERP, CRM, and shipping modules through which customer could not only stay updated with products, but also track the progress of their orders.
  • Elastic Search is implemented for product navigation and pagination so that everything goes seamlessly. Again the Site search is powered by Clerk.io, which also uses the Elastic Search and Artificial intelligence to analyze the customer behavior and track their movements on the website.
  • Based on the customer behavior and the sales, products are recommended to the users
  • From order processing to shipping of the products, everything is automated and Magento is connected with their internal systems.
  • Price calculations are done based on the weight, length of the product and also on the location of the address of delivery.
  • For shipping, it is integrated with the ship theory where the decision is taken whether the carrier would be Fedex, Tuffnell or any manual arrangements need to be done.
  • Order downloads directly goes to the Opera for invoicing.
  • The mega menu, which was very complex earlier, was simplified so that the customers could easily find the products that they needed.
  • They could also go down 5 levels of the catalogue tree with just 2 clicks.
  • The new site is mobile friendly with responsive designs and high security features and has expanded its service across Europe.
  • We also implemented the Magento SEO features to optimize the website and meet other commerce centric search optimizations.
